Christie McCullen is a Lecturer in Sociology and Oakes College, as well as an inclusive and equitable teaching workshop developer and facilitator for CITL. Her teaching has been honored through the Chancellor’s Teaching Fellowship (UC Davis), the Excellence in Teaching Award (UCSC), and the Outstanding TA Award (UCSC). As a CITL Faculty Fellow, Christie plans to engage in a participatory action research project with students and organizations on campus to address mental health issues related to systemic oppression and campus climate. She received her Ph.D. from UCSC in Sociology and Feminist Studies where she researched the affective dynamics of conversations about race in sociology, writing, and theater classrooms.
