Thanks to the outstanding work of CITL Managing Director Sam Foster, with the collaboration of the entire team at Online Education and CITL, we have recently launched a new iteration of keepteaching.ucsc.edu for 2020-21.
The new site is specifically designed to respond to feedback we have received from students, faculty, and staff regarding remote instruction. It includes new content on antiracist teaching practices and an entirely revised section containing principles for how instructors can support student learning during remote instruction. It includes significantly revised content on assessments and academic integrity that is sensitive to the challenges of remote instruction. Finally, there is a wholly revised section on the role of TAs during remote instruction by CITL Associate Director for Graduate Programs, Kendra Dority.
Hundreds of instructors completed the Integrated Course Design for Remote Instruction (ICD-RI) course this Summer through Online Education, and we are already receiving very positive feedback from students who took Summer courses redesigned through ICD-RI. I am confident we will be able to deliver on our promise to the campus to significantly improve on the remote instruction we pulled together last Spring, and the majority of the credit for that improvement should be laid at the feet of Online Ed and of the instructors who devoted their time this Summer to course redesign.
